The Frenchman has
been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent months, with Juventus
at the front of the queue for the player.
But Barcelona have
emerged as surprise contenders for Pogba's signature after recent comments made
by Pep Segura in a radio interview.
However, according
to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan outfit would prefer to splash out £100m on
Ajax's Frenkie de Jong.
The Spanish
publication claims Pogba does not have the 'DNA' needed to play at the Nou
Camp.
"Pogba or De
Jong? In general, we will always need players like De Jong because this is the
profile we want, but we have always had players whose characteristics are not
as faithful as those requested by the club, as with Seydou Keita who provided
the balance needed to meet the challenges," Segura told Cadena SER.
"And the big
competitions, like the Champions League, claim every time players of different
profiles."
De Jong is being
chased by a number of European heavyweights at present.
As well as
Barcelona, Manchester City are also said to be very keen on the midfielder.
Manchester United
fans were in meltdown last night after footage emerged of Pogba and Barcelona
icon Lionel Messi enjoying dinner together in Dubai.
And according to
the Metro, the duo enjoyed a laugh about France's World Cup chant which
mentions Messi by name.
The publication
claims Pogba sang the N'Golo Kante chant, which includes the line 'he stopped
Leo Messi' in response to the 4-3 clash between France and Argentina at the
World Cup
But as the pair
laughed about the lyrics, Messi responded: "That's a lie!"
Many Manchester
United and Barcelona fans are now speculating that the pair's relationship could
lead to Pogba making a shock switch to La Liga.
Speaking earlier
this season, the midfielder said: "I still have a contract, I am playing
there at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next few
months."
