CRISTIANO RONALDO SENDS MESSAGE TO SIR ALEX FERGUSON AHEAD OF MAN UTD RETURN
Man
Utd great Cristiano Ronaldo is back at Old Trafford for the first time in five
years and has spoken to the press ahead of the game.
Cristiano Ronaldo admits it will be 'emotional' to return to Old Trafford on Tuesday night and sends his 'best
possible wishes' to former boss Sir Alex Ferguson .
Since leaving United, Ronaldo has played at the Theatre of Dreams on
one previous occasion and delivered the fatal blow in Real Madrid's Champions
League last 16 win in 2013.
Ronaldo is now back at his former home with Juventus, who he joined for £99.2m
in the summer, and dozens of journalists and broadcasters from around the world
crammed into the No.7 suite at Old Trafford to hear him speak to the press on
the eve of the Group H clash.
When asked about coming
back to Manchester, Ronaldo could not help but pay tribute to those at Unitedwho
helped turn him into a Ballon d'Or winner - including Sir Alex who suffered a
brain haemorrhage in May.
"It's a hugely emotional thing for me to come back," he told
reporters. "I can remember what it was like when I was here in Manchester.
I know all about the history and won lots of trophies here - the cups, leagues,
the Champions League.
"I remember
the support. The support is fantastic. Sir Alex Ferguson is someone I will
never ever forget, someone who gave me a huge lift in my career and i would
like to express my best possible wishes to him.
"Absolutely when I knew we were going to be playing against
Manchester United it was huge for me."
Juventus are currently top of Group H after winning both of their opening
games, against Valencia and Young Boys, and lie two points clear of United in
top spot.
And Ronaldo is
expecting a tough test.
"It will be a difficult game. We know Manchester they are a good
team, they play at home, it will be tough for us but we have our weapons,"
he added.
"We are Juve
so it's going to be tough but I think we have a chacne. I know if we play good,
if we play the way the coach wants we have a good chance to win the game.
"But, of course, we have to respect Manchester United because they
are a fantastic team, with an experienced manager, but I look forward that
Juventus will win the game."
